For three decades, music executive and talent manager, Caron Veazey, has been a respected and trusted curator, connector, and advisor to artists and companies, and has built invaluable relationships across a wide network. Her career in music began in the record label sector of the industry, eventually serving as VP of Marketing at RCA Records, SVP of Marketing at Island Def Jam, and then onto Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Music.
Caron is known for her razor-sharp instincts and for positioning talent to impact global culture. With those tools, Caron transitioned to the management side of the business, joining Pharrell Williams as manager, and head of his creative collective, i am OTHER. During their nearly 10 years of working together, Caron was responsible for architecting some of Pharrell’s greatest, iconic moments including the worldwide campaign for ‘Happy’, ‘Blurred Lines’, and ‘Get Lucky’ w Daft Punk. During her tenure, Pharrell launched unprecedented collaborations in the fashion, art, commerce, brand partnerships, and philanthropic arenas —while he also amassed seven Grammy Award nominations, two Academy Award nominations, and five Cannes Lion awards for i am OTHER’s creative and innovative excellence.
With a calling to social justice and artist advocacy, Caron is honored to be a Co-Founder and Vice President of the Black Music Action Coalition, an advocacy group dedicated to addressing racism across the music industry, and creating parity for Black artists, executives, and professionals in all areas of the music business.
As a veteran record executive, Caron Veazey is proud to have been included on the Billboard Women In Music list and the Hip-Hop & R&B Power Players List for multiple years, along with a Billboard ‘Change Agent’ Honor for the work that BMAC is doing across the industry.
The passion for the music and artists on the carefully selected client roster is the engine of Something In Common. Identifying and supporting talent — whether at the beginning stages of their career or those who are more seasoned —remains the driver of the company vision.
